This week decided to get a nickel 50mm Elmar lens and a FOFER rangefinder to match my Leica I Model C circa 1931
The nickel Elmar arrived today ... known as "11'o clock bell push" because the infinity stop is at 11 o'clock unlike later chrome Elmar's where it is at 7 o' clock. And "bell push" refers to the button on the focusing lever - the bell push button is depressed to unlock the focusing lever.
The nickel Elmar lens is S/N 98910 ie an early 5 figure serial number c.1930 for the standardized interchangeable lens mount. Standardized mounts are identified by a tiny "0" on the camera lens flange and a similar "0" adjacent to the lens' focusing lever. The tiny "0" is visible in the lens photograph. Camera is S/N 65742 = c.1931.
