  • Production era - 1963-1992
  • Code names
    • 16457 - Viso III housing (for bayonet only)
    • 16498 - Viso III with OTXBO (shown ghosted)
  • Type - Reflex housing, similar in appearance to Visoflex II, but offering three possibilities of mirror operation set by three positions on the knob: yellow dot - fast mirror breakaway-and-return for rapid action; black dot - slow, gentle mirror rise and fall for long exposures; red dot - mirror lock-up out of light path for vibration-free close-ups and photomicrographs. . . A thumb-activated mounting lever enables the unit complete with OTXBO to be quickly mounted on Leica-M without having to remove the OTXBO first - Laney
  • Optical depth - 40 mm
  • Variants
    • Finish - Black crackle (standard) and gray hammertone (military) versions
    • Motor-M Coupled Viso - Invented by Camcraft's Norman Goldberg (1931-2006), upward movement of the arm caused Motor-M to advance the film - NY item, mid 60s, never cataloged - Laney
    • Pellicle Viso - Norman Goldberg's modified Visoflex II /III (similar version by JPL, shown below from Westlicht 12 /292) with fixed half-silvered prism, eliminating mirror vibration and black-out - Laney
