Production era - 1957-1963; 5,968 cameras
Evolution - First Leica camera with manufacturer's name on front; IIIg without rangefinder and viewfinders; some were made without the slow-speed dial
Variants - Chrome, black, military (olive jacket), post and Canadian versions, with or without slow-speed dial
Body - aluminum with chrome plated brass top plate, base plate and knobs
