Dr. Werner Simon was the chairman of the photographic division of Leitz in 1984, and he was the one who strongly wanted the M6, believed the real revolution of the unit, as he was convinced that with a modern light meter, it would make the camera a bold statement in the market. He served as Leica CEO from 1996- Oct 1997.
