Dr. Martin Picherer has been Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Leica Camera AG since October 10, 2008. He is responsible for Sales and Marketing, as well as the Sports Optics business unit. Dr. Picherer studied Law at the universities of Augsburg (Universitaet Augsburg) and Munich (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitaet Muenchen). Having been trained as a Banker concurrently with his studies, he subsequently, during his doctoral studies worked for HypoVereinsbank AG, Munich, and in 2001 obtained his Doctorate. From 2002 until 2004, he was active at the international law, tax consultancy and audit firm, Haarmann Hemmelrath & Partner, Munich, in the fields of banking, stock exchange and capital market law. For the firm he was active in law consultancy, particularly in respect of the foundation of companies, the restructuring of existing companies and groups, as well as the acquisition and sale of companies and corporate divisions, and was entrusted with negotiating and designing contracts for project funding and with advisory services for banks in regulatory matters. From 2004 until 2006, he practiced as a lawyer in the Munich-based firm v. Waldthausen, lawyers and tax consultants, in the fields of banking, stock exchange and capital market law, as well as company law. Since 2006 Dr. Picherer has been active as Lawyer for ACM Projektentwicklung GmbH, Salzburg, the principal stockholder of Leica Camera AG. Reuters 16 Nov 09

Dr. Picherer announced new products for the specialist fair IWA & OutdoorClassics in March 2011: "Our customers should look forward to the fair – for there will be innovative new products to strengthen our business also in sports optics."
