The Leica R6 is a mechanical manula exposure, manual focus single-lens reflex camera. Unlike every other entrant in the R-series range (with the exception of its successor the R6.2), the R6's shutter is fully battery independent, being of an entirely mechanically design. The only element of the camera's operation which depends on battery power is the exposure meter.
Perhaps the most famous devotee of the Leica R6/R6.2 cameras is reknowned documentary photographer Sebastio Salgado [1].
